We work to inform and involve people in architecture and design, so that everyone can enjoy, learn about and help shape their built environment. We do this directly through community programmes and indirectly through design support resources.
Working with communities
Through outreach programmes such as the Family Arts Festival we work directly with communities that have less access to the city centre’s arts and culture offer. This work includes collaborative artist commissions, such as Sounding City; and working with communities to co-develop place-specific activity, such as Opening Doors to Heritage.
Through targetted programmes, such as Design Your Neighbourhood, we are also able to provide support and capacity-building to enable people to get involved in and help shape their environment.
Visit our resources section to find community participation advice and support, including links to useful organisations and tools.
We can also provide accredited trainers in Spaceshaper and can design bespoke training for your community group.
