SO WHAT NEXT?

Successful cities and towns of the future need to be designed by and for everyone. Our high streets, our climate, and the houses we live in, need innovative and diverse voices to shape them. 

Shape My City: Talent Accelerator Programme seeks to change the future of these professions.
The programme runs from September 2020 – July 2021.

 

 

 


 

GET INVOLVED (Young People Aged 15 – 18) 

Are you creative and interested in designLogical and strategic? Would you like to change the world around you? 

And have you ever considered any of the following careers?: 

  • Architect 
  • Urban Designer 
  • Engineer 
  • Landscape Architect 
  • Heritage consultant 
  • Construction Project Manager 
  • City Planner

Shape My City is aeducation programme for 15  18 year olds, running Sept 2020 – July 2021We seek to give talented young people opportunities they might not otherwise have. We particularly welcome female participants, students from BAME backgrounds and those from state schools & under-represented socio-economic groups.  

 

In the workshops and seminars, you will:  

  • Work alongside design professionals  
  • Develop teamwork, confidence & communication skills  
  • Learn about a variety of career options in the design sector & pathways to success 
  • Be assigned a mentor from a leading firm to help with university applications & work experience  
  • Connect with other creative young people from across the city & begin to create life-long networks  
  • Go on site visits to inspiring buildings
     

How does the programme fit around school 

The workshops run once a month on a weekday evening, from our centre on the harbour in Bristol.  

 

What is the Structure?

There are 10 modules on the first Wednesday of the month, 5-7pm.

What does it cost? 

The programme is free to successful applicants. The Architecture Centre will provide £5 per session for travel and an evening meal on the day.
