Generation Place Summer School

Children from urban primary schools spend a week re-imagining their local neighbourhood

Watch this short video encapsulating the Generation Place summer School.

The Summer School provides an invaluable week of high-quality work-related learning for year six students, centred around the challenge of redesigning a site in their local neighbourhood.

The project pilot took place in summer 2018 at Hannah More Primary School, where young people formulated plans for Lawrence Hill Roundabout. A brief set by local community development charity Up Our Street challenged the young people to redesign the large green space, currently under-used by the community, and turn it into a great place to live, work and play.

“Generation Place is about nurturing the next generation of creative placemakers.” Amy Harrison, Head of Learning, Architecture Centre
