My Green City Resource

Bring your Design and Technology lessons to life by challenging your class to plan their own sustainable city.

As part of Bristol’s Green capital year, the Architecture Centre ran a design competition for schools.

The My Green City competition challenged primary and secondary students in Bristol to respond to a design brief on the theme of sustainable cities and food, by creating 2D design drawings, 3D models and a City Charter.

The My Green City competition resources have been adapted by Bristol 2015 to produce a free My Green City downloadable teaching resource as part of a new Sustainable Learning website.

The My Green City resource series encourages pupils to explore city planning and urban design, identify the needs of the of future cities, and understand the challenges resulting from an increase in urban population and the pressures of food production.

This project would be perfect as a class Design and Technology project or competition, with strong links to English and creative opportunities to build in a range of cross-curricular learning objectives.
