The Architecture Centre delivered O. Space in 2012 as part of the Cultural Olympiad. Through working with secondary school students in Weymouth a series of teaching resources exploring public space design was developed.
The resources invite students to take on the roles of urban designers and landscape architects. Responding to a design brief, they are invited to consider many aspects of design such as: street furniture, lighting, shelter, signage, historic features, activities, access, facilities, art and sustainability.
This design challenge resource enables students to understand more about the design process, regeneration of public space and environmental sustainability and provides an opportunity for them to work alongside environment professionals to learn more about potential career options.
The Architecture Centre would like to acknowledge the following for their kind support of this event: Geoff Smith, Katherine Denman, Paul Scott, Kieran Rafferty, Stephen Hebb, Ian Cardy.
