To celebrate Bristol’s year as European Green Capital, the Architecture Centre’s 2015 Shape My City youth programme undertook a live ‘hands-on’ sustainable building project.
During July 2015, Shape My City participants joined forces with Engineers without Borders (EWB Bristol) students from the University of the West of England (UWE) and tangentfield architects to collaboratively design and construct a community shelter.
Built from local, sustainable materials (earth, wood, clay) the shelter is located on the Asylum Seekers Allotment Project (ASAP) in St George, East Bristol, and was constructed with and for local asylum seekers.
