Building Bloomberg with Michael Jones, Foster + Partners
Discover the how a meeting of minds between a visionary client and exemplary architects led to the UK’s best new building.
In 2018 Bloomberg’s European headquarters was named the UK’s best new building, winning the RIBA Stirling Prize.
Built in the heart of the city of London overlooking St Pauls, the elegant pair of 10-storey stone clad buildings occupy a site originally earmarked for a 22-storey glass tower. Opening up an ancient Roman route and creating new public spaces the buildings aim to be good neighbours to the surounding city.
Behind the elegant facades lie a wealth of technology providing exemplary spaces to work, meet and stroll through whilst minimising water and energy use.
Join Architect Michael Jones from Foster + Partners to find out more about this extraordinary building.
“The creativity and tenacity of Foster + Partners and the patronage of Bloomberg have not just raised the bar for office design and city planning, but smashed the ceiling.” Ben Derbyshire, RIBA President
“This ground-breaking project demonstrates what is possible through close collaboration between highly-skilled, imaginative architects and a deadly sophisticated, civic-minded client. Bloomberg is an astounding commitment to quality architecture.” Sir David Adjaye OBE, Stirling Prize Chair
