The Architecture Centre welcomes leading US Urban Designer Damon Rich and Guardian journalist John Harris

Drawing on lessons learned from working alongside popular educators and community organizers, Damon Rich, partner at Hector, will share methods to bring together architecture and place-based politics in order to challenge the assumptions of both.

Damon Rich is a designer and urban planner creating vivid and witty strategies to help residents exercise power within the public and private processes that shape our cities. Trained as an architect, he is committed to a democratic approach to a wide range of projects, including designs for public spaces and exhibitions.

In 2017 Damon was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship for his ground-breaking work in participative urban design and advocacy.

John Harris is a journalist, writer and broadcaster whose work covers politics and popular culture. His Guardian film series ‘Anywhere but Westminster’ challenged the assumptions of centralised politics and gave a vivid insight into contemporary Britain.

This event is kindly supported by the US Embassy, the British Association of American Studies and the Landscape Institute.

Funded by the BAAS/US Embassy small grants programme and the Landscape Institute.
