Narrow Quay

Sat 22 Jul 2017
14:00 - 15:00

Drop-in for an informal yet insightful exhibition talk by Exhibitions and Events Curator, Jodie Marks, on the drawings and memories of Garth England.

From the selection of thirty drawings from over two hundred in the collection, to the conservation efforts of exhibiting archival artwork, hear how the curation of this exhibition came to be and some of the stories around Garth’s drawings.

Exhibition tours to take place on:

  • Saturday 22 July
  • Saturday 12 August
  • Saturday 9 September

Speaking of the exhibition at the launch, Jodie Marks says;

“The Architecture Centre is pleased to present this first-ever exhibition of Garth England’s drawings. Not only do they offer a unique snapshot of twentieth century life in the city but they demonstrate the value of innate creativity in everyone and how that can help us understand places. The Architecture Centre encourages people to be the experts of their own place, as Garth was his, and these drawings demonstrate how people help places come alive.”

“The exhibition provides a chance to see the work of this enigmatic man in the flesh and a true insight into his very particular vision.” Aldo Rinaldi, Senior Public Art Officer at Bristol City Council
